Strange things are happening at these Olympics, my friend. Can you believe a female boxer was punched? And did you hear the other news? Algeria has turned into an experimental lab for the radical “woke culture”. Where is our world heading?
Usually, I don’t pay much attention to the torrent of nonsense on social media and the exaggerated, fantastical crusades of every semi-literate zealot. That’s why I cheerfully ignored all the ridiculous nonsense that was written and continues to be written by every living account about the Opening Ceremony. But here, things have spiralled into a storm of false news.
Out of curiosity, I decided to watch the controversial video that claimed “a man beat up a woman” in Paris. I didn’t see that with my own eyes. It was simply that one of the two athletes somewhat outperformed the other.
Some idiot – who apparently believes that beating women is an exclusive privilege of macho men – said it first, and the sewer opened, once again filling our digital reality with homophobic and transphobic stench. It was already pervasive, but now the stench has overwhelmed us.
It’s impossible for me to follow the reasoning of the obscurantists, but let’s make a poetic effort (sic). “There is a hidden agenda aimed at undermining and dismantling the traditional values of the West and making us subservient to the whims of the New World Order.”
Truly, there has never been a more ridiculous and baseless conspiracy theory. But neither has there been one more consistent, since the dawn of time. There is always someone “plotting against our traditional values”, those things we’ve stubbornly fixed as immovable standards in our minds. Fortunately, someone is plotting against them; otherwise, we wouldn’t have even ventured into caves.
And so, as if the “woke agenda” of the declining Western Civilisation wasn’t enough for us, now we also have those of Algeria and Taiwan! That’s essentially what they’re saying, without even questioning the most basic things. Well, isn’t Algeria an African Muslim country?
It would suffice to argue that in this country, not only are gender transitions or denials prohibited, but even homosexuality is banned. If it is considered more tolerant than other Arab countries, it is because homosexuals are punished with “only” two years in prison. Could such a country send a transgender person to represent it at the Olympics? Even the most tolerant Western countries don’t dare to do that!
Imane Khelif was born a woman. She doesn’t “self-identify as a woman”. She might not even know what the word “self-identification” means. She never changed gender. She grew up as a girl in a village near Tiaret, without training facilities, and her father tried to discourage her from pursuing sports, especially boxing, because he believed “it wasn’t for girls”.
Despite this, she managed to reach the Olympics twice. And she is far from undefeated. If I’m not mistaken, she had an overall record of 37-9, and in 2021 in Tokyo, she only reached the quarter-finals, losing to the eventual gold medalist, Kellie Harrington.
Because the girl doesn’t have the appearance and physical characteristics that align with contemporary femininity standards, she became a target for the anti-woke front. (Literally: the anti-awakened. The asleep, that is). These people easily judge a person by their appearance and then insist on forming an opinion about their karyotype. And they don’t even bother to distinguish between trans individuals or “gender deniers” and intersex individuals.
This particular athlete simply happens to have some congenital physical, hormonal, or genetic ambiguities. She has some peculiarities in her physiology, as many people do. According to the obscurantists’ reasoning, however, these people should be thrown into the abyss as infants. And they don’t have the same rights as others.
I don’t know how many people are aware that the most successful Olympian of all time, Michael Phelps, has a genetic peculiarity that gave him an advantage to become the best. I’m not just talking about the hyperactivity with which he was diagnosed. His body, when exercising, has the ability to remove lactic acid from the muscles twice as quickly as normal. This means he recovers faster from the strain of intense training.
If we had to judge athletes by their peculiarities, their body types, or their biological and musculoskeletal characteristics, we would have to ban anyone over two metres tall from playing basketball due to… unfair competition.
I can’t even imagine what will happen to Imane Khelif if, in her country or social environment, they take all these complex, nonsensical notions seriously, which are nothing more than pure body shaming. The funny thing is that most of those who eagerly reproduce them never cared about women’s rights, which they now invoke.
And if this athlete had decided to self-identify as a man, they would be the first to throw stones at her. If a proposal for an additional category of competitors in the Olympics beyond men and women were to be made to the IOC, they would be the first to climb the barricades.
Because their lament and torment are not about “equality before the law” or “respect for the rules”. What burns them is the different. That is self-evident. After all, as the discussion progressed these days, they began to adapt the narrative on the fly.
But this is not about transphobia or intersexphobia. Essentially, it’s more about self-phobia. They are gnawing at their own insides. They are boiling in their own toxic brew.
If there is one positive thing in this toxic babble, it is the increased visibility that intersex individuals have gained these days. Anyway, with their wails, the haters achieve exactly what they decry every time: they put the so-called “woke agenda” at the centre of global interest. Fools.
