Police are investigating a possible connection between a group of fans and a spate of vandalism targeting traffic cameras in Limassol on Tuesday.

Footage of the incident, which has been widely shared on social media, shows a group of hooded individuals spray-painting the cameras.

“Yesterday, after the video was posted on social media, we became aware of the damage to a camera at a junction in the Omonia area. Immediately, members of the Limassol Crime Investigation Department and the local police station went to the scene to carry out investigations,” Police spokesperson Lefteris Kyriakou said.

Authorities believe a procession of fans, who were heading to a nearby stadium, to watch their team’s first training of the season, may be linked to the incident.

The Limassol CID is examining evidence collected from the scene and appealing for witnesses to come forward.
