The 45-year-old from Ormideia, who surrendered to the British Bases yesterday evening, confessed to murdering 52-year-old Charalambos Constantinides from Paralimni at a car repair shop in Ormidia.
The suspect appeared before the Dhekelia Base Court and was represented by a Cypriot lawyer. The court remanded him in custody for 8 days, and his lawyer did not object to the detention.
As heard in court, the murder took place after 10 pm on Tuesday night.
A citizen informed the Police that he heard two gunshots and testified that he saw the victim lying in a pool of blood, with the suspect nearby.
An autopsy was carried out by a Greek coroner.
The court read the medical certificate, which stated that the victim sustained gunshot wounds and multiple bruises.
The cause of death was recorded as: head trauma. It was also mentioned that the murder weapon has been located.

It is noted that the suspect has the option to choose whether he wants to be tried by a court of the Republic of Cyprus, as both parties involved are Cypriots.
