On Saturday, December 9, the United Cypriots Hunters Movement and the ‘Awakening Movement’ (Afipnisi) declared their merger.
According to a statement from the Hunters party, the two movements will unite from now on as a single entity under the name “Active Citizens – United Cypriots Hunters Movement.”
“This collaboration represents the continuation of the unification and cooperation of various groups and movements, where together we will offer our fellow citizens an alternative solution and vision, away from the corrupt and destructive political system that governs us. Our decision aims to strengthen our struggle against the rotten party establishment and corruption that has eroded the entire political fabric of the country,” the statement reads.
“We demand,” it adds, “to reclaim the lost dignity of our homeland and our people, which are being dissolved by the continuous and destructive incompetence and corruption of our political system.”
Concluding their announcement, they note the following: “Our flag is Reason, Justice, and Industriousness, virtues that have been violated and murdered on the altar of the enrichment and indulgence of corrupt politicians, provocatively disregarding the real problems of our people and our homeland. The union of our forces comes from the people and is directed towards the people for a pure vision of a more just and humane society. We call on the people and our fellow citizens who share the same concerns and dream of a more beautiful and just world to join us and support our challenging and just struggle.”
