Here’s what’s on this week across Cyprus, from open-air cinema and theatre to exhibitions and new film releases.
SCREENINGS
Nicosia, Konstantia Open-Air Cinema, 9pm. The 27th Summer Screenings Marathon runs every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday until September 13. It opens tonight with Stavros Papageorgiou’s historical documentary “Memory of a Sweet Homeland,” which sheds light on a lesser-known chapter of history: the settlement of Greek refugees from the Asia Minor Catastrophe in Cyprus after 1922. Focusing on the dramatic journey of the Tosounoglou family from Alagia, the film unfolds their memories, experiences and the way Asia Minor refugees put down roots, integrated into and enriched Cypriot society. 22348203
