Music
Troodos, “A.G. Leventis” Botanical Garden, Monday 31 August, 10am. Among the trees, aromatic plants, endemic species and natural forest sounds, in one of Cyprus’s most important sites for environmental education and natural heritage, pianist Nikoletta Savvidou will give a recital titled The Piano Tour. In this setting, dedicated to preserving life and biodiversity among hundreds of plant species, the piano becomes not a foreign element within nature but a natural extension of it, inviting the audience to listen to the rhythm of the landscape. The recital will be streamed live on the Avantgarde Cultural Foundation’s Facebook page and will remain permanently available on YouTube.
Screening
Nicosia Municipal Theatre, 8pm. The Department of Antiquities is screening the documentary Skammata, directed by Danai Stylianou, as part of the Nicosia Festival. Weaving together archival material from excavations with powerful personal testimonies, the film highlights key moments in Cypriot archaeology before and after the tragic events of 1974. Dialogue in Greek, English and French, with Greek and English subtitles. Free admission. Running time: 87 minutes.
