Journey of New Beginnings is an exhibition celebrating artistic resilience, cultural exchange, and personal transformation. Curated by Nibal Baidas Christofides, whose multicultural roots and passion for beauty drive her curatorial vision, the show highlights the powerful work of two Syrian artists redefining their creative paths through exile and renewal.
Nawar Shartouh
A graduate of the University of Damascus, Nawar’s foundation in graphic printmaking evolved into a distinctive mixed-media style. His abstract figures convey deep emotional and psychological landscapes. Based in Dubai, he has held solo shows in Syria and the UAE, including Dubai Expo 2021, and participated in numerous group exhibitions across the Middle East. His work transcends borders, offering poignant reflections on the human condition.
Imad Habbab
Imad’s vivid, impressionist-inspired palette emerged from early training in Damascus and formal studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts. After leaving Syria in 2012, he created the Explosion and Civilian Spectrum series—raw explorations of trauma, identity, and memory. Now based in Belgium, Imad has exhibited widely from Beirut to Istanbul to Dubai and received awards including the 2011 Shaghaf Prize and the UNHCR cover painting award in 2014.
Through Journey of New Beginnings, Nibal connects universal themes of displacement, belonging, and shared heritage. The exhibition is not just a display—it’s an invitation to reflect, feel, and rediscover common ground through art.
