The village of Xylophagou has announced their new Fish Festival, taking place on the 12th of July from 11:00 to 18:00, where locals and visitors are invited to celebrate the sea and its fishermen.

According to a press release, the Xylophagou Fishing Shelter will host the Fish Festival, an event that aims to celebrate the rich fishing culture of the village.

During the festival, visitors will be able to learn about fishing from the experts, beside a seaside view. Guests will be offered fresh fish and seafood meze alongside entertainment including music, dance, and activities.

The band Passepartout will perform at the festival, with locals and visitors given the opportunity to be shown fishing and net tying demonstrations, as well as tastes of a variety of seafood. The festival will also have activities for children, so the whole family can plunge into the cultural experience.

The Festival also offers free boat trips to the marine attractions and caves of Xylophagou, giving attendees the chance to explore the natural elements of the coastline up close.

The Xylophagou Community Council are determined to make this new authentic dip into seaside life an annual happening, to show the history, tradition and natural wealth of the village year by year.

Xylophagou will welcome their visitors on Sunday, July 12th, from 11:00-18:00. The festival is free to attend.
