Divers decorated the Zenobia shipwreck off Larnaca in an annual underwater Christmas event that has become an institution for the diving community.

The wreck, described as the Titanic of the Mediterranean, received its festive decorations as divers departed from Larnaca marina aboard the Queen Zenobia boat and descended to the seabed for the special event.

Divers placed small, non-toxic and non-soluble ornaments which were removed at the end of the dive, with absolute respect and care for the protection of the marine ecosystem, according to organisers.

After the dive, participants enjoyed Christmas sweets in a warm and festive atmosphere.

The free event aimed “to highlight Larnaca’s unique relationship with the sea, diving tourism and environmental awareness, combining festive atmosphere with respect for nature,” organisers said.
