The Industrial Workers of the World Cyprus Regional Organising Committee (IWW-CyROC) will host a fundraising event featuring a screening of the award-winning documentary “Kokomo City” to support both an ongoing industrial action and sex workers’ rights.

The event, scheduled for 27 February at Social Space Kaymakkin in Kaimakli, aims to raise funds for the Sex Workers Alliance Ireland and workers currently on strike at a digital agency in Nicosia, which the organisers describe as Cyprus’s first recent wildcat strike with full staff participation.

The evening will include labour songs and merchandise sales before the screening of the 2023 documentary, which chronicles the experiences of four Black transgender women working in the sex industry in New York and Georgia.

The event begins at 18:30.
