Antigoni Buxton, Cyprus’s representative for the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest, revealed that her selection was a dream she had “manifested” through regular prayer and church visits.

The singer’s statements, aired yesterday, follow the official announcement by the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CyBC) that she will compete in the 70th edition of the contest in Vienna, Austria, next May.

Buxton expressed profound excitement over the nomination, which she admitted was a surprise.

“I am Antigoni and I am very proud and very pleased. It is something I have dreamed of since I was very young and I have manifested it,” Buxton said. “I go to church every day, I light my candle and say my prayer. I had asked God for it. When they told me, I didn’t expect it, it was a big surprise. I feel ready and I want to make Cyprus proud.”

Despite the excitement, the singer confirmed that her entry song is not ready yet, but she intends for it to have a strong Cypriot influence.

“What I would like is for the song to have a lot of Cypriot feeling and Cypriot words. I am not afraid, it is a competition and we are going to win,” she said, adding that supportive messages from fans have given her “good energy.”

The two semi-finals for the 2026 contest will be held on 12 and 14 May, with the Grand Final scheduled for 16 May.

Buxton, an artist of Cypriot descent, was born and raised in North London. She first gained wide attention through her participation in the UK reality television show Love Island.
