Cyprus has announced its intention to provide at least 850,000 euros in humanitarian aid to Sudan and neighbouring countries through CyprusAid in 2026, the Foreign Ministry said.
The pledge was made at the Third International Humanitarian Conference on Sudan, held in Berlin, the Foreign Ministry said in a post on X. Cyprus announced the aid in response to calls to support the affected population, with emphasis on vulnerable groups including children and women, according to the ministry.
The assistance will be distributed across Sudan, South Sudan, Mauritania, Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Chad, Eritrea, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Cameroon and Egypt, through support for programmes run by UNICEF, the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the ministry said.
Africa remains one of CyprusAid’s main priorities, the Foreign Ministry added.
