The notorious usurper of Greek Cypriot properties, Shimon Aykut, who has been convicted by a Cypriot court, fought tooth and nail to serve his sentence in Israel.
Israel submitted a request to the Republic of Cyprus to transfer the convicted usurper to Tel Aviv to serve his sentence there. In light of the bilateral agreement in place, and after assurances were secured that he would be taken into custody rather than released, Nicosia agreed.
All the necessary documents were duly prepared. But Israel never took the final step.
And so the usurper remains here still.
