After letter upon letter between Parliament and the Finance Ministry, they have found the day, time and venue for their meeting on the issue of multiple pensions. The meeting has finally been scheduled for Thursday at Parliament at 2:00 pm.
The Finance Minister will travel to Parliament to participate in the Finance Committee session rather than the MPs going to the ministry. Let us hope that after the confusion, Thursday will see a common formula found that satisfies all sides and will not face constitutional issues.
The timetables are now tight for Parliament, which has set 19 June as the deadline to close the major chapter of multiple pensions for state officials. The issue, however, is ensuring that whatever regulation is decided upon is constitutionally sound.
