The surveillance case was everyone’s failure

Relevant News

Crime is rampant; we see it striking every night in Limassol. The Republic is under threat from external enemies, and the state has failed to find a way to monitor the phone calls of those who organise crime or are potential terrorists. Well done. The failure of this endeavour must be attributed to all those involved without exception, whether the House of Representatives, the government, or the Cyprus Intelligence Service (KYP). The Service has a national role to fulfill, and a way should have been found to carry it out. Any reservations should have been overcome, just as they were in 2020 when the first law allowing surveillance was passed. Now it’s been a drop in the bucket, and crime will run rampant while the KYP will continue to do what it does the way it does it. God forbid something happens in the country; I hope those who did not contribute to finding a solution today do not disappear.
