Israel is pushing ahead with a tender for 1,234 new settler units in the E1 zone, wedged between occupied East Jerusalem and the Ma’ale Adumim settlement, ploughing on relentlessly with its genocidal campaign against the Palestinian people.
Even as the assault on Gaza and the West Bank continues, and with the world’s eyes drifting away from the Middle East, Israel is doubling down on a policy that boxes Palestinians in, creating conditions that are simply unliveable, and naturally, hardest of all on civilians.
And it does this in open defiance of UN Security Council resolutions, resolutions Israeli authority flouts brazenly. The grim truth is that, just as with the settlement of occupied Cyprus, the world’s response to occupied Palestine has barely amounted to a murmur.
That’s how a precedent gets set, how it becomes easy for the big powers to treat settlement as a tool of ethnic cleansing. In this case, Turkey and Israel: the two terrorists of our region.
