Losing the game with juvenile delinquency

Relevant News

Increased incidents of juvenile delinquency have been observed recently, especially in the period before and after the Easter holiday.

Attacks with fireworks, street battles, and car vandalism, as well as school vandalisms, have become more frequent. This is not unique to the holiday season.

There has even been an attack on police officers. An ambush attack, as characterized by the Police themselves, which occurred on the eve of Easter Sunday.

Based on what we have been witnessing and what research indicates, a percentage, albeit not large at present, of students exhibit extreme forms of delinquency, defiance, bullying, and aggression towards classmates/teachers.

This behaviour also manifests outside the school environment, as we have seen with recent attacks and vandalism.

It is an issue that requires attention from many. All involved parties bear responsibility, and everyone should take action.

How and why does a ten-year-old child, a teenager, go to a school facility at night and destroy classrooms? What drives them? And what drives them to throw fireworks at cars, endangering people and damaging vehicles?

Who is responsible and who can help? The school. That is, the Ministry, school administrations, educators, and Parent Associations. Obviously, students, both organized and unorganized, are also part of the equation.

Obviously, the issue also needs to be addressed at home. We would say that the primary responsibility lies with the family. Children should be raised at home in a way that does not manifest extreme delinquent behavior.

At the same time, we note that while the family plays a crucial role, it cannot bear this burden alone, as other factors contribute to shaping a child.

Therefore, as we have stated many times in the past, a collective effort is needed. It is evident that without a collective effort, any initiative will fail.

Because this has happened in the past. Scientific intervention is important. Research findings are tools to be utilized.

It requires attention and systematic approach. Parents and schools must emphasize and utilize all available means to work preventively, protecting children. That is the goal.
