Controversy has erupted in the USA over the aircraft gifted by Qatar to American President Donald Trump. It is a luxury aircraft. However, in the US there has been strong reaction and debate as American legislation has specific rules regarding what gifts a President can receive. And in this particular case, the aircraft from Qatar is not covered by the relevant legislation.
If they don’t want this particular aircraft, they could give it to us for use by the Republic of Cyprus. Because the EU Presidency is approaching and such an aircraft would contribute enormously to the President’s, ministers’ and officials’ comings and goings. And we don’t need such luxury; we can accept it in a more… humble version!
