Controlled information

Relevant News

We have often expressed the view that the executive power should ensure the media are informed with seriousness and accuracy, rather than attempting to manipulate the flow of information.

Because controlled leaks often cast shadows. Even when there is nothing reprehensible.

The day before yesterday at noon, before the news of the tragedy with the shipwreck “broke”, we addressed an official inquiry to the Ministry of Justice about operations in international waters (in cooperation with the National Guard), based on our information about activity off the coast of Cyprus.

We received no answer. Instead, we were instructed about the role of the Minister of Justice, who “does not intervene in the operational matters of the Police”.

We did not accept this answer, pointing out that these operations are carried out following political decisions.

The essence is that while a rescue operation was taking place in international waters to locate shipwreck survivors, the fact was carefully concealed from us.

Later, of course, the news was reported, without sufficient details being provided. And subsequently, Minister Marios Hartsiotis, who “does not intervene in the operational matters of the Police,” went to the JRCC to closely monitor the rescue operations.

And now try not to make suspicious connections…
