The Department of Meteorology has issued a yellow-level thunderstorms warning, valid from 1pm to 6pm today, August 18.
Isolated heavy thunderstorms are expected to affect mountainous areas, inland areas and probably eastern coastal areas.
Hail is likely during thunderstorms, and rainfall rates are locally expected to exceed 35 millimetres per hour.
