A group of around 20 people clashed on a main road in Xylophagou on Wednesday night, causing alarm among residents and putting passing drivers at risk.
One member of the group tried to run down rivals with his car, which ended up crashing into a nearby property and causing damage.
The group fled the scene in a hurry, leaving behind hammers, crowbars, stones, football jerseys, bags, slippers and a vehicle.
According to information, CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed, as several well-known food chains and cafes are located on the road. Authorities are also examining the abandoned vehicle, which had number plates, and are searching for its owner.
A resident of the area previously told philenews that those involved “caused damage to a car that was parked there,” while their own vehicle “tried to run them over and then got wedged into a property.” “There was panic,” he said.
Famagusta Police are investigating the case.
