A 70 year old woman is being treated at the Nicosia General ICU following a fire last night at her Limassol apartment, with a dramatic Fire Service rescue saving her from certain death.
According to the latest police report, she remains in critical condition, having suffered a respiratory burn and a second degree burn to her back.

Her 30 year old son suffered a surface burn, was treated and released from hospital. The fire broke out around eight last night, with Aphrodite and her son Andreas becoming trapped in the balcony of their apartment.
‘Hang in there Aphrodite, hang in there Andreas’, were the words of encouragement from the fire service as they organised a delicate rescue using a specialised forklift that reached the top floor of the four storey building.
