The management of the Integrated Waste Management Facility (OWMF) in Pentakomo has been transferred to the Water Development Department, announced Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis today.
The 14-day deadline given by the state to the contractor has expired, and henceforth, the Water Development Department will oversee the facility during this transitional stage until new contracts are prepared, and tenders are announced with proper terms, specifications, and procedures.
“For several days, a team from the Water Development Department has been present at the Pentakomo OWMF to ensure a smooth transition to the new Management regime. The primary concern of the Water Development Department is to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the facility, preventing any disruption in waste management for the municipalities and communities in the Limassol district,” stated the Government Spokesperson.
He emphasized the significant contribution of the Limassol Development Company in managing the OWMF during this transitional phase.
