The competent authorities organised the search and rescue operation in a matter of minutes in order to locate the missing man as soon as possible, using coast guard boats and supported by a police helicopter and a Kiti precinct patrol.
According to the Larnaca Search and Rescue Coordination Centre statement, the Nearchos plan was activated at 13:40 following a report that the jet skier had been missing for some time off the Mazotos coast in the Larnaca district.
The coast guard and naval police boats located the man 45 minutes after the first call was received, rescued and carried him ashore safely. He has not been injured and it seems that he lost his orientation and drifted at sea.
