Protaras has opened a new calisthenics park aimed at fitness enthusiasts practising ancient Greek exercise techniques, whilst announcing strict measures against overnight beach bed reservations.
The new park is located on the seafront promenade near the Nafsika Hotel and caters to both adults and minors.
The facility features specialised equipment including parallel bars for all ages, providing what Paralimni-Deryneia Municipality describes as an exemplary exercise space for training that combines strength with flexibility and movement harmony.
Ground preparation work was donated free of charge by PIKA Road Constructions Ltd, the municipality announced.
Calisthenics, derived from the ancient Greek words “kallos” meaning beauty and “sthenos” meaning strength, has become an increasingly popular global exercise method. The discipline is based on ancient Greek training systems used to prepare body and mind for battle or athletic competition.
The municipality has also announced it will implement “drastic measures” to prevent the practice of reserving beach beds with towels from the previous evening.
In a statement, it calls on beach visitors to rent equipment sets comprising sun loungers and umbrellas immediately upon arrival and obtain receipts to ensure proper rental procedures.
The municipality warned that towels or personal items placed to reserve equipment will be removed by municipal staff if discovered.
Beach bed and umbrella rentals are now available via bank card and contactless smartphone payments, with the municipality encouraging electronic transactions over cash payments to assist both visitors and municipal employees.
