A coordinated police operation in Nicosia and Larnaca, based on information about criminal activity, was carried out in the early hours of yesterday.
As Phileleftheros can confirm, members of the Force, including officers from the Headquarters’ Narcotics Unit and the Rapid Response Unit, simultaneously executed search warrants at the Central Prisons and a residence in Ormidia around 03:00 on Thursday morning.
The searches were conducted in the cell of a high-profile inmate, convicted in a serious drug case, and at the residence of an acquaintance of the former.
The police reportedly seized mobile phones belonging to the two individuals. Necessary examinations of the said mobile phones are expected to follow.
According to our source, the police operation was based on information obtained, suggesting that the two individuals conspired to commit a very serious crime.
However, it was not clarified whether this case is already under investigation by the prosecuting authorities.
Nevertheless, as we understand, no arrest warrants were executed.
