Police have cordoned off areas between Aradippou and Dromolaxia as they search for an armed suspect following an attempted assassination of a prominent individual in Larnaca on Thursday morning.
Police received reports of the assassination attempt at 11:30am, according to initial information. The gunman fired multiple shots but failed to hit the intended target before fleeing the scene.
Authorities have placed the region on high alert as the manhunt continues. Police have sealed off specific areas to contain the search operation for the armed suspect.
In a public statement, police warned residents against approaching the incident location. “For security purposes, the exact location will not be disclosed as the perpetrator is circulating in the area armed, and it is dangerous to approach the site,” police said.
“Investigations are being conducted to locate him. There is danger. Please do not approach the area,” the statement continued.
The identity of the intended victim has not been disclosed, though sources confirm the individual is a well-known figure in the area.
