The parents of a three-month-old girl who died at Makario Hospital have requested the exhumation of their child’s body for a post-mortem examination, following allegations of medical negligence.
The infant, who was born prematurely with serious health complications on July 30, 2024, remained in an incubator at the hospital’s paediatric unit until her death on October 26.
She was subsequently buried in Limassol without an autopsy being performed.
Through their lawyer, the parents have filed a formal complaint with Nicosia Police Headquarters, alleging death by act or omission.
Their decision to pursue legal action came after consultations with medical experts abroad.
The family’s legal representative has confirmed that the parents have consented to the exhumation of their daughter’s remains to determine the cause of death.
They are now awaiting a response from authorities.
