Israeli residents living in Paphos organised a protest outside the Paphos Town Hall on Monday, demanding the return of their children and loved ones who have been abducted by Hamas.
Protesters donned shirts with photos of the abducted children, featuring slogans such as “Bring them home,” and placed prams outside the Paphos Municipality.
They asserted that each child’s pram represented those who have been kidnapped by Hamas, urging international support.
Two women, Alice Sani and Hagal Khokhavit, residing in Paphos and participating in the demonstration, described the tragic events orchestrated by Hamas on October 7.
They detailed the abduction of children, including a 12-year-old who remains a captive in Gaza under Hamas.
They also provided testimonies regarding the “cruel actions of Hamas, including the abduction of children, women, and the murder of pregnant women.” Their testimonies, they stated, aimed to shed light on the inhumanity of these acts and the reluctance of certain groups, such as Hamas, to pursue peace.
Furthermore, they urged people to comprehend the severity of the situation and take action to assist the abducted children.
Cyprus’s Chief Rabbi, Arie Zeev Raskin, who attended the event and prayed for the return of the abductees, called upon world leaders to contribute to the release of Israeli hostages who are still held by Hamas.
During the protest, a tribute was paid to the hostages in collaboration with ‘StandWithUs’ and ‘BringThemBackHomeNOW organisations’.
The Paphos Police took enhanced security measures during the event.
