Hundreds of people gathered in Nicosia on Tuesday evening to march in solidarity with the Palestinian people and call for an end to the war with Israel.
More than 600 people responded to the call issued by a coalition of organisations, including Greek and Turkish Cypriot, as well as Palestinian groups, urging for a pro-peace protest march.
The demonstration started around 7 p.m. near the Ministry of Interior. The protesters marched holding banners saying “Not in our name. End the genocide. Free Palestine,” “Stop the war in Gaza,” and shouted chants such as “Free, free Palestine,” “Netanyahu you can’t hide, you’re committing genocide,” and “Niko, Niko you can’t hide, you’re supporting genocide”.
The march is paused at Eleftherias Square where a vigil in the memory of the victims of the attack in Gaza was held.
