Police are investigating a shooting in Nicosia after a motorcyclist allegedly pointed a gun at an officer and fired at a building before fleeing.
The incident happened at around 4.15am on Saturday, when a police motorised patrol moving along a road in Nicosia noticed a motorcycle acting suspiciously in the area and stopping outside a specific building.
A police officer approached the motorcycle to carry out a check, but the motorcyclist pulled out a pistol and pointed it at him, police said.
As the officer tried to take cover and call for reinforcements, the motorcyclist fired at the building and fled.
Police patrols immediately went to the area, but the suspect could not be found.
Checks at the scene found that the gunfire damaged the glass display window of company offices housed in the building.
