A police officer was arrested in Nicosia on Wednesday on suspicion of stalking, threatening and assaulting a woman.
The arrest follows a complaint filed yesterday by a 48-year-old woman at the Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department (CID). The investigation began immediately after the complainant’s report, police said.
The officer is facing charges of interference with judicial proceedings, threats, assault causing actual bodily harm, and stalking.
In a statement, the police noted that they are responsible for safeguarding citizens’ security, adding that such actions do not align with the values, principles and standards that the organisation adopts and seeks to implement.
