The Fire Service responded to 35 incidents after heavy rainfall struck areas of Nicosia district, stretching crews as they raced from one call to the next.
Six flood-response teams from Nicosia fire stations worked in Engomi, Makedonitissa, Strovolos, Lakatamia and Agios Dometios.
Most calls involved pumping water from flooded basements, opening storm drains and towing vehicles from flooded roads. Crews also dealt with sparking EAC power cables.
In one case, a tree fell and damaged a parked car. No injuries were reported.
Two teams from the SUPPORT-CY volunteer group assisted the Fire Service in its operations, while Nicosia DLGO crews worked in parallel to open storm drains.
Police and a Strovolos Municipality crew took over the scene of the fallen tree.
