Khassim Diagne has arrived in Cyprus to officially assume his role as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative and Head of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP), the organisation announced on Wednesday.
Dianie succeeds Colin Stewart, who completed his term in August 2025.
“I am honoured and grateful to be here in Cyprus as the Special Representative of the Secretary-General. I look forward to working with all our partners across Cyprus,” Dianie said upon arrival.
The diplomat brings more than 25 years of experience in international relations and leadership positions within the United Nations, according to the UN statement.
