Kurdish activist Kenan Ayaz, currently in German custody, has sent a heart-warming letter to Philenews journalist Alekos Michaelides, a tribute to Cyprus, its people and their support of the Kurdish struggle.
According to a relevant report by Michaelides, the six page letter first went the scrutiny of the German Anti-Terrorist Service and was clearly opened and read. The activist does not have the luxury of a private conversation, not even with his team of lawyers, even though he has yet to be convicted of any crime.
It was the 2nd written communication with the Cypriot journalist over the past few months, the first of which was rather personal in nature, but the latest one had more political and historical references to Kurdistan and Cyprus.
The Kurdish activist reiterated his love and connection to Cyprus, noting that he is tied to the historical values of the country. ‘I consider the island my second home’, Ayaz added, saying that he will always be indebted to the people and the place.
‘You have shown a stance worthy of the Greek civilisation in this legal process’, Ayaz concluded in his letter.
