Man killed in Limassol collision was delivery rider from Pakistan, police confirm

Police released the name of a food delivery rider who was killed in a collision in Limassol on Wednesday night.

Yasir Shah, 34, was pronounced dead at Limassol General Hospital following the collision that occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Paphos Street while he was delivering food.

The car driver, a 38-year-old man, was arrested under court warrant and remains in custody as investigations continue, according to police.

The driver tested negative for alcohol but showed positive results in a preliminary drug test. Police said samples have been sent to the state laboratory for further analysis to confirm these findings.

During questioning, the driver claimed the victim had cut him off with his electric bicycle, police said. These claims are being investigated by Limassol Traffic Police, who are also reviewing CCTV footage from the accident scene.
