Loukis Loucaides, a former European Court of Human Rights judge and former deputy attorney general, pleaded not guilty on Tuesday to charges of theft by an agent and money laundering, in a case concerning 177,108.12 euros in compensation for an expropriated house in Limassol.

He entered his pleas before the Limassol Permanent Criminal Court, which set the case for hearing in February 2027.

According to the charge sheet, Loucaides was acting as a lawyer and as the agent of the person administering a deceased woman’s estate at the time, between 2014 and 2026, in Limassol or Nicosia, or both. It alleges that during that period he fraudulently appropriated the sum, embezzling it for his own use or that of another person.

The money was compensation for the woman’s expropriated house in Limassol. The charge sheet alleges that he was obliged to pay it to the estate’s administrator but did not do so.

The case stems from a complaint filed in July 2025 by an administrator of the woman’s estate. According to the complaint, Loucaides received the money from Limassol Municipality as compensation for the expropriation, but it was not transferred to the estate.
