Limassol scooter rider critically injured in collision with motorcycle (video)

A 56-year-old scooter rider was seriously injured in a collision with a motorcycle on Chr. Hatzipavlou street in Limassol at around 6pm on Sunday, police said.

The circumstances of the collision, which involved a 35-year-old motorcyclist, are under investigation, police said. The impact sent the motorcycle skidding along the road, where it came to rest under a bus parked at a nearby stop.

Both riders were taken by ambulance to private hospitals in Limassol.

On-duty doctors said the 56-year-old suffered a skull fracture, a ruptured spleen and a collapsed lung, and remains in critical condition. The 35-year-old sustained abrasions and bruising across his body, doctors said.

The motorcyclist was tested for alcohol and drugs, with both results coming back negative, police said.

Limassol Traffic Police are continuing their investigation.
