A 19-year-old man appeared before Limassol District Court on Sunday and was remanded in custody for five days in connection with the alleged rape and sexual abuse of a 14-year-old girl who gave birth last year.
The girl was taken to Limassol hospital on November 5, 2025, with severe pain. Doctors discovered she was 34 weeks pregnant and delivered the baby immediately. Hospital staff then informed police, who launched an investigation.
Following her discharge, the girl was placed in a children’s shelter. Initially she said she did not know the identity of the father.
In subsequent interviews she told investigators the pregnancy resulted from rape, providing a description of the alleged perpetrator and an account of the incident.
After extensive inquiries based on the information she provided across three interviews, investigators identified the 19-year-old suspect.
The suspect faces charges of sexual abuse of a minor, rape, abduction for the purpose of unlawful detention, threats and possession of a knife.
