The Federation of Primary School Parent Associations of Larnaca is attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the longest continuous line of AA batteries on Sunday June 7, 2026, at Zouchouri Square in Larnaca, starting at 5pm.
The target is a line of more than 33,000 batteries, surpassing the current record of 31,204 set in 2023 by the organisation Recycle My Battery in the United States.
Pupils, parents, teachers, schools, organised bodies and volunteers from across the Larnaca district are taking part. All batteries collected will be handed to AFIS Cyprus, the island’s battery recycling scheme, for recycling.
