In a development to the Thanasis Kalogeropoulos murder case, investigators from the Limassol CID have presented findings before the Limassol District Court, seeking to extend the detention of two key suspects, aged 22 and 21.
According to philenews, analysis of the telecommunications data of the suspects has been pivotal in shedding light on their alleged involvement in the crime. The investigators are examining evidence such as items recovered from the suspects’ residences and the 22-year-old’s vehicle.
The 22-year-old, captured on closed-circuit television near Kalogeropoulos’ residence in the Skarinou area, has raised suspicions due to his proximity to the crime scene both before and after the tragic incident. The vehicle in question, a BMW registered to a relative but allegedly driven by the suspect himself, has become a focal point of the inquiry.
Notably, investigators have testimony suggesting that the 22-year-old may have played a pivotal role in facilitating the second assailant’s escape.
At the same time, the 21-year-old suspect, the fourth person taken into custody in the case, is believed to have been involved in transporting the motorcycle to the arson site a day prior to the murder. Furthermore, investigators suspect his role as a co-passenger or even an active participant in the aftermath of Kalogeropoulos’ killing.
Laboratory examinations are underway on various pieces of evidence, including clothing, mobile phones, a firearm cartridge, and surveillance footage, all recovered from the suspects’ residences and the 22-year-old’s vehicle.
Despite the evidence, none of the four suspects has chosen to cooperate with the authorities, philenews reports.
