A 49-year-old Greek Cypriot man was shot in the leg during an attempted murder in Pyla shortly after midnight today, with the masked gunman firing two shots before fleeing the scene.
The victim was standing in the courtyard of his home when an unknown assailant wearing a balaclava fired two shots, believed to be from a pistol. The man sustained a through-and-through wound to his right lower leg and was transported by ambulance to Larnaca General Hospital.
Initial reports indicate the perpetrator had set up an ambush and struck as soon as the victim appeared. The masked gunman immediately fled following the shooting.
Medical staff at Larnaca General Hospital confirmed the victim suffered a penetrating wound to his right lower leg and was admitted for treatment. Further examinations are scheduled for this morning.
Crime scene investigators responded to the incident, along with Larnaca’s police director and two assistant police directors. The investigation into the attempted murder is ongoing.
