The 38 year old man was driving at a staggering 208 kilometres per hour, more than double the allowed limit of 100 on the Larnaca-Kofinou highway.
He was flagged down by a traffic patrol this morning, as police intensify main road checks during the weekend, with thousands heading out to coastal regions.
The man underwent a narc test with a positive result and was charged in writing.
Authorities will be launching additional campaigns during yet another busy summer, aimed at minimising serious collisions.
Speed is the number one cause of fatal accidents in Cyprus and this year has been no different.
