A fire broke out today at an old commercial building in the Paphos Industrial Area, prompting an immediate response from the local Fire Service.
The blaze, which occurred at a recycling collection site, required two fire engines and specialised equipment to bring under control. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
Local residents and community representatives have voiced strong complaints about the area’s ongoing use as an illegal dumping ground rather than its intended purpose as an industrial zone.
Despite recent cleanup efforts following public protests to remove abandoned vehicles and other waste, residents report that illegal dumping has resumed.
Community members suggest the fire’s intensity was exacerbated by the accumulated waste in the area.
