The Department of Meteorology issued a yellow warning for severe thunderstorms on Monday, valid from noon to 6pm.
The department’s Larnaca airport office said isolated severe thunderstorms are expected to affect mountainous areas, the interior and the north of the island.
Rainfall could locally exceed 35 millimetres an hour, it said.
