Cyprus is waking up to patchy low cloud and isolated fog or mist on Monday, with conditions expected to clear to mostly sunny skies across most of the island as the day progresses.
Scattered cloud developing around midday is forecast to bring isolated showers and a possible thunderstorm, mainly over the mountains, in areas west and south of Troodos, and later in inland areas, the met office said.
Winds will start variable and soon turn light sea breezes at force three, shifting gradually by the afternoon to mainly south-westerly to north-westerly at force three to four. Seas will be generally smooth to slight, with temporarily slightly rough conditions in the north, south and west.
Temperatures will reach around 28 degrees Celsius inland, around 24 on the south-eastern, eastern and northern coasts, around 23 on the south-western and western coasts, and around 17 in the higher mountain areas.
On Tuesday, mainly clear skies in the morning will give way to isolated showers and thunderstorms by midday and afternoon, primarily over the mountains and the eastern half of the island. Hail is possible during any storms.
Cloud will build at intervals on Wednesday and Thursday, with isolated showers or thunderstorms again expected around midday and into the afternoon, mainly over the mountains and inland areas.
Temperatures are not expected to change significantly through Thursday, remaining close to seasonal averages.
