Cyprus temperatures reach 39C as mountain rain possible from Monday

Seasonal low pressure is affecting the region, with mostly clear weather expected across Cyprus on Sunday and temperatures reaching 39C inland.

Cloud cover will increase locally at times during the day. Winds will blow mainly from the south-west to north-west at 3 to 4 Beaufort, becoming locally stronger at 4 to 5 Beaufort for periods during the afternoon. The sea will be calm to slight.

Temperatures will rise to 39C inland, 30C on the west coast, around 34C on the remaining coasts and 29C in the higher mountains.

Tonight, conditions will remain mostly clear, although increased low cloud is expected at times. Light mist or fog may form locally, mainly during the early morning hours.

Winds will blow mainly from the north-west to north-east at 3 Beaufort, while the sea will be calm to slight. Temperatures will fall to around 22C inland and on the west coast, around 23C on the remaining coasts and 20C in the higher mountains.

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will remain mostly clear, although locally increased cloud is expected around midday and in the early afternoon. Isolated rain cannot be ruled out in the mountains.

Temperatures are not expected to change significantly through Wednesday and will remain slightly above seasonal averages.
