Police have arrested two teenagers, aged 17 and 18, after a group of hooded youths set fire to waste bins and caused explosions in Aradippou last Sunday.

The suspects were identified after they posted videos of their illegal activities on an internet platform, according to sources who spoke to philenews. Aradippou Police Station is investigating the case and searching for additional suspects.

In the early hours of April 13, 2025, police received reports of bins on fire near a gymnasium in Larnaca. Officers arrived at the scene to find five waste containers ablaze.

Police also responded to an alarm triggered at a nearby primary school, where they discovered damage to a classroom door, apparently caused by an improvised incendiary device with a firecracker.

The two teenagers, who are allegedly connected to explosions in at least six bins, are expected to appear before Larnaca District Court tomorrow for remand orders.

They face nine joint charges, including conspiracy to commit a felony, illegal assembly, possession and use of explosive materials without a license, causing a disturbance, breach of peace, and malicious damage.
