The Ministry of Education has awarded €10,000 grants to two students attending arts secondary schools abroad, naming pianist Anna Avramidou and performer Maria Pissaride as the recipients for the 2025–2026 school year.
The grants are one-off payments available to minors under the age of 18 with demonstrably exceptional talent in any art form — including music, visual arts, dance, theatre, film, photography and literature — who have been accepted at and are attending recognised arts secondary schools abroad. The Ministry said the scheme aims to support talented young people and promote Cypriot art at home and internationally.
Eight applications were submitted for the current school year, six of which did not meet the eligibility criteria.
Anna Avramidou has been studying piano at the Purcell School for Young Musicians in the United Kingdom since the age of 14. She has received distinctions in international competitions and festivals across Europe and America, and has performed with the Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Commandaria Orchestra, the Limassol Municipal Symphony Orchestra, the Thessaloniki State Orchestra and the Cleveland Orchestra.
Maria Pissaride is studying at Tring Park School for the Performing Arts, also in the United Kingdom, where she is active in music, theatre, musical theatre and dance. She represented Cyprus at Junior Eurovision 2024 and has released her own song.
The Ministry congratulated all children who applied for their engagement with the arts and said a new call would be issued for the next school year.
