Cyprus is set to experience unusually cold weather on Saturday, with snow expected in mountainous regions and possibly extending to lowland areas.
Temperatures will drop significantly below seasonal averages, reaching 8°C inland, 10°C in coastal areas, and plummeting to -2°C in higher mountain regions, where frost conditions are expected.
North to northeastern winds will prevail, with speeds of 3 to 4 Beaufort inland, increasing to 4 to 5 Beaufort in windward coastal areas. Western regions will experience southwestern to northwestern winds.
The cold snap is expected to persist through Monday, with cloudy conditions and isolated rainfall. Mountain and semi-mountainous areas will likely see snowfall, with light snow possible in some lowland regions.
The sea will be slight to moderate.
The weather is predicted to improve by Tuesday, with mostly clear skies and some localised cloud coverage, accompanied by a rise in temperatures.
